Lymphedema is a condition with chronic swelling caused by damage to the lymphatic system. In the United States, this is most often a consequence of cancer treatment - either surgery or radiation.

Nonoperative management strategies are the cornerstone of treatment and include compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, and specialized exercises.

When these methods aren’t enough, surgical options such as lymphaticovenous bypass (LVB), vascularized lymph node transfer (VLNTx), and minimally invasive excision (MITE) may be considered.

It is important to tailor treatment to each patient as an individual.

Insurance

In-network | Out-of-network

We are in-network with Medicare.

We accept private PPO insurances (Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United) as an out-of-network (OON) provider. Payment for services provided during an office visit is required, but we will provide you a superbill and any other necessary documentation require for submitting the visit to your insurance for direct reimbursement or application towards your deductible. We do work with and bill your insurance directly for necessary surgical procedures, subject to the plan’s OON policies.

Unfortunately, due to continuous decline in reimbursement rates combined with the rising costs of providing high-level and individualized reconstructive care, as of 2025, SoCal OncoPlastic Surgery is no longer in-network with plans other than Medicare.

For Derm Boutique and Aesthetic Surgery visits, we do not charge a consultation fee - unless a prior “no show” has occurred.
